The fantastic film Dahomey gives voice to 26 royal objects as they return from Paris to their country of origin, Benin, as well as the young people who live there.
This theme of decolonial healing is at the heart of so much of my work, so I was honoured to join a panel to share my experience at the Dark Matter film screening. I discussed how engaging with shields from the Kingdom of Buganda inspired my self-portraiture series and installation ‘A Space for Resistance and Renewal’ helped me to develop restore my agency.
