Embroidery Doodling
Embroidery Doodling
Perfect is exhausting. Perfectionism is a cage.
Stitch yourself free from the tyranny of “getting it right.” Let’s be un-serious.
In this workshop, we remix African embroidery traditions and embrace radical acceptance to:
Rewire your brain: Tactile creativity reduces anxiety and boosts adaptability (Kaimal, 2016)
Reclaim “failure”: Every “mistake” is a step toward liberation.
Create without rules: Doodle, stitch, and weave your way back to joy.
Why this works for Black women and Non-binary folk
We’re often told we have to be twice as good. Here, you’re free to be human.
What others say
“I laughed and finally let go of needing to be perfect. This was therapeutic.” – Amara

Why me
When I led community wellbeing research in Walworth, I saw how freeform stitching became a language for participants who’d been told their voices didn’t matter. Thread by thread, they wove stories of healing, rage, and collective care.
Now, I bring this practice to you. No rules. No “right way.” Just you, a needle, and permission to unravel the myth that your worth is tied to productivity. Together, we’ll stitch new narratives – ones where rest is sacred, and creativity is your birthright.
