Future Self workshop

£85.00

Reclaim your boldest future, on your own terms.

Tired of surviving in systems that weren’t built for you? Ready to stop shrinking and start thriving?

What to expect

In this workshop, we use self-portraiture and African storytelling traditions to reconnect with your deepest desires. Using tactile materials like bark cloth, raffia palm, and banana fibre, you’ll:

  • Unmask your present: Release societal expectations and code-switching fatigue.

  • Own your history: Honour your journey without letting it define your limits.

  • Design your future: Journal life and make art aligned with your values, not others’ demands. Studies show that envisioning your future self boosts resilience and decision-making (Hershfield, UCLA)

Why this works for Black women and Non-binary folk

No more “hustle harder” narratives. Here we merge ancestral wisdom with modern psychology to reimagine liberation through radical rest.

Why me

I know what it’s like to wake up numb and float through days where hope feels like a distant rumour.

During my deepest burnout, I turned to future self writing – tiny, defiant acts of imagining a version of me who dared to thrive. Slowly, those words became art, then a residency with Njabala Foundation and Arts Council England, where I was guided by artists and artisans to help me reclaim my agency through self-portraiture.

Now, I blend Ugandan storytelling, mindfulness, and collaborative art to help you reconnect with who you’re becoming – not the one the world told you to be. No perfection required. Just curiosity, breath, and the courage to dream again.
