Mindfulness Through the Senses workshop
Mindfulness Through the Senses workshop
Burnout lives in your cells. Let’s release it.
The body is not a machine – it’s a sanctuary️. When was the last time you truly listened to yours?
In this sensory-rich workshop, we use African textiles, natural fibres, and mindful creativity to:
Reset your nervous system: Lower cortisol through tactile play (backed by Kaimal et al.)
Reclaim joy: Explore taste, touch, and scent as acts of pleasure and inspiration for your art.
Build somatic awareness: Heal the toll of systemic stress stored in your body.
Why this works for Black women and Non-Binary folk
We honor the proverb “The earth is not ours; it’s a treasure we hold in trust.” This is your time to nourish yourself – so you can keep nourishing the world. Forget “self-care” that feels like another chore. This is about pleasure, presence, and reconnecting with ancestral practices of communal care.
What others say
“I finally felt safe in my own skin. This wasn’t mindfulness, it was freedom.” – Leila

Why me
Years ago, I navigated depression by relearning how to feel – sunlight on my skin, the earthy scent of bark cloth, the grounding weight of clay.
This journey birthed Cultivating Rhythms of Care, an installation where visitors reflected on the menstrual cycle, moved together in harmony through sensory immersion.
Today, this workshop invites you to pause, breathe, and reclaim your senses as tools for liberation. You don’t need to “fix” yourself – just show up. Using Ugandan fibres, soundscapes, and guided reflection, we’ll rewrite the narrative that says exhaustion is the price of “success.”
